Windows 11 has introduced a shared audio feature, allowing audio streaming to two wireless devices simultaneously using Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) technology. This feature is currently in preview for Windows Insiders on the Dev and Beta channels.
Feature Implementation
Released as a part of the latest Windows 11 update, the shared audio functionality requires Bluetooth LE–supported devices, such as Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and Galaxy Buds 3. To activate, users must connect compatible devices and select the 'Shared audio (preview)' option from Quick Settings.
This offering follows previous LE Audio support added in August, aimed at delivering improved sound quality during games and calls.
Device Compatibility and Future Availability
Initially, shared audio is limited to select Copilot Plus PCs, including the 13.8- and 15-inch Surface Laptops, and the 13-inch Surface Pro. Microsoft plans wider availability for other devices in future updates. Similar features exist on platforms like Google's Auracast for Pixel phones and certain Samsung Galaxy models.
