Gearbox Software has unveiled the roadmap for Borderlands 4 at PAX Australia, detailing both free and paid downloadable content (DLC) planned through the end of 2025.
Halloween Event and Free Content
The free Halloween event, Horrors of Kairos, will run from 2025-10-23 to 2025-11-06. Players can expect reimagined world bosses and new items. Notably, it introduces the Murmur Tediore assault rifle, which deals guaranteed critical hits when health is under 35%, and the Skully Order grenade with its homing projectiles. Cosmetic rewards include a pumpkin head and weapon skin.
New Paid Expansion: Bounty Pack 1
Scheduled for release on 2025-11-20, Borderlands 4 Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day marks the game’s first paid expansion. This holiday-themed mission pack includes the introduction of the first Vault Card, a system that boosts loot and experience points. Additionally, the pack offers new legendary weapons, Vault Hunter heads and skins, a variety of weapon and vehicle skins, Echo-4 skins, and the Digirunner vehicle. Completing the main mission unlocks bonus cosmetics.
Upcoming December Update
The game will see a free update in December, featuring its first Invincible boss, Bloomreaper the Invincible. New legendary drops and the Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, which increases endgame challenge, will also be added. Gearbox expressed gratitude to players for their support, announcing that both free and paid updates, along with performance improvements and necessary balance adjustments, are in the pipeline.
