The forthcoming Apex Legends mid-season update heralds a series of comprehensive changes, most notably revolving around the legend Seer. Players can prepare for a strategic shift as Respawn Entertainment unveils enhancements designed to reintegrate Seer more prominently into competitive play. Scheduled for release on September 16, the patch brings thoughtful recalibrations to characters and weapons that aim to offer both challenges and opportunities to players.
Seer's New Abilities and Role
One of the most awaited changes revolves around Seer, whose capabilities have been significantly upgraded. Seer's passive ability, the Heartbeat Scanner, now boasts an increased range, offering a broader tactical scope. However, the scanner now produces a continuous heartbeat signal rather than discrete beats per targeted enemy. This subtle recalibration enhances situational awareness while requiring players to continually interpret data.
Meanwhile, the Tactical Focus of Attention no longer interrupts healing processes but has received a notable augmentation in providing a speed boost and reducing holster time effectively. The scan duration and slowdown effects have been nearly doubled, although the silence effect has been modestly curtailed to 2.5 seconds, with its cooldown reduced to 20 seconds. Seer’s ultimate, the Exhibit, now delivers at a larger throwable range of 50 meters and houses a slightly expanded sphere, increasing its tactical utility.
Across-the-Board Updates
The update reveals new dynamics for several other legends as well. Mad Maggie benefits from quicker Riot Drill and Wrecking Ball animations, the latter of which can now traverse obstacles, deliver increased damage, and sustain for 10 seconds. In contrast, Ash faces a prolongation in dash cooldowns, and reduced efficiency in altering direction. Meanwhile, Caustic’s notices a slower escalation of gas damage, enhancing survivability in constrained settings.
Sparrow receives a reduced Tracker Dart duration and faces drawbacks with the Stinger Bolt’s decreased robustness, which now carries a slowing effect extending to Sparrow and any nearby allies.
Weapon and Map Overhauls
The Wild Iron event brings a boom as well, notably introducing the explosive capabilities to the Flatline, such as explosive bullets and the ability to set defusable bombs on downed opponents. Players can also look forward to the presence of an EPG grenade launcher and heightened explosive loot. Weaponry sees an expansion in required hop-up points and the integration of the Turbocharger into the system, curtailing the Peacekeeper's effectiveness with an expanded blast pattern.
The update also diversifies the map rotation, bringing E-District, Kings Canyon, and Olympus into circulation, while PC users can anticipate enhanced performance thanks to a substantial reduction in shader counts by nearly half. This season's adaptations highlight Respawn's dedication to refreshing gameplay experiences while maintaining the strategic core that players have come to love.
