Amplitude Studios has released the first major update for Endless Legend 2, targeting Doomwraith mechanics, AI behavior, and the user interface. The changes come as players have collectively logged 1,000,000 hours in the game within just one month of its release.
Doomwraith Adjustments and New Features
The update modifies the impact of Doomwraiths on cities. Their negative effects now increase over time but will cap at 50% after ten turns. Actions 'Bait Doomwraith' and 'Close Rift' become default features, with costs scaled by distance and weather conditions. The studio is also contemplating a new setting to adjust Doomwraith difficulty.
AI and User Interface Enhancements
AI improvements focus on better army strategy, optimized use of troops, and enhanced interactions with minor villages. The addition of 'Always show empire statuses' helps manage simultaneous turns by showing when AI factions have completed moves. The user interface sees a rework with adjustments to the empire-level buttons and new layouts for research and city screens.
Looking Forward: Multiplayer and Diplomacy
Plans for the second major update include enhancements to multiplayer functions and diplomacy systems, allowing for early testing and fixes. Amplitude Studios also seeks to address endgame pacing, aiming to extend the timeframe for game victory beyond turns 100–200.
With an 86% positive rating on Steam, Endless Legend 2 continues to evolve with community-driven improvements. Amplitude is running a contest for players to design a new minor faction, fostering increased player engagement.
