Google is preparing to introduce video app support for Android Auto, enhancing in-car entertainment options for users during charging breaks. This feature, announced at Google I/O 2025, is expected to allow users to watch videos while their vehicles are parked.
Upcoming Features in Android Auto
The latest beta version, Android Auto v16.3.160744, includes a flag named CradleFeature__allow_video_apps, indicating the forthcoming support for video apps. However, attempts to activate this feature have been unsuccessful, suggesting that further development is needed before a public release.
Additional Enhancements
In addition to video app support, Google is working on integrating Android 16–style network icons into Android Auto. Another anticipated feature is the ability for users to select a driving avatar, offering a more personalized in-car experience. These features are still under development, and it's uncertain when they will be available to the public.
