Capcom has announced that PC sales now account for approximately 50% of its total unit sales as of the third quarter of FY2025, marking a significant shift in its sales distribution. The company anticipates this trend will continue, prompting a strategic focus on enhancing its PC development capabilities.
Strengthening PC Development
Capcom plans to bolster its PC development framework, leveraging the technical expertise gained from addressing performance challenges in Monster Hunter Wilds. The company invested heavily in resolving the game's PC performance issues, culminating in a February update that reduced CPU and GPU loads. This was achieved through additional levels of detail for 3D models and optimized spawn-time processing.
Recent Releases and Future Plans
Resident Evil Requiem launched last week across multiple platforms, including PC, and was well-received critically. The PC version alone attracted over 300,000 concurrent players on launch day. Looking ahead, Capcom has scheduled a Capcom Spotlight for March 5, featuring upcoming titles such as Pragmata, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, and the Alex DLC for Street Fighter 6. Key release dates include Monster Hunter Stories 3 on March 13, Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection on March 27, and Pragmata on April 24.
Market Outlook
Despite global memory shortages, Capcom reports no material impact on its operations so far but remains vigilant regarding potential medium- to long-term effects. The company's proactive approach in addressing technical challenges and expanding its PC market presence underscores its commitment to adapting to evolving industry dynamics.
