Microsoft has completed the rollout of a redesigned Start Menu for all Windows 11 users. The update, included in the KB5067036 release, makes the Start Menu more versatile and visually appealing.
UI Changes and Features
Released initially on June 9, 2025, the new Start Menu introduces a modern user interface with three sections: Pinned, Recommended, and All. Recommended sections now display two rows of recent apps and documents. Users can choose between three styles for the All section: Category (folder-based), Grid, or List.
- Category: App library-like folder structure.
- Grid: Horizontal grid layout.
- List: Vertical alphabetical list.
Additional customization is accessible via the Settings app, allowing users to tailor the Start Menu experience further.
Integration with Phone Link
Connectivity with mobile devices is enhanced through the Phone Link app. Once linked, smartphone information and actions are mirrored alongside the Start Menu, simplifying cross-device interactions.
Update Availability
Microsoft began its phased rollout in late 2025, and the update is now available to all Windows 11 25H2 and 24H2 users. Users yet to receive the update should check Windows Update settings, enabling "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available." A restart after installation ensures the update's application.
