Cyberpunk 2077 was successfully emulated on the Red Magic 11 Pro smartphone, showcasing both the potential and limitations of mobile gaming technology.
Emulation Details and Performance
Blogger ETA Prime demonstrated the full PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 running on the Red Magic 11 Pro, which is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor and liquid cooling. The game was executed using the GameHub platform with the Proton compatibility layer. It was set to 720p resolution on low settings, utilizing FSR 2.1 in Balanced mode.
Without frame generation, the device maintained approximately 30 FPS in most scenes, dropping to 27–28 FPS during more demanding moments. With frame generation enabled, performance improved to 40–50 FPS.
Thermal Challenges and Implications
The experiment recorded temperatures reaching up to 100°C, with CPU load between 60–80% and GPU load at 50–60%. This highlights the thermal limitations that continue to challenge mobile devices, despite advancements in chip performance and emulator technologies.
The demonstration underscores the narrowing performance gap between PCs and smartphones, though thermal management remains a critical hurdle for mobile gaming.
