Raven Software has announced significant changes to the Warzone weapon meta with the start of Season 1 on 2023-12-04, emphasizing frequent updates and diversity in gameplay. The changes focus on frequent meta shake-ups to ensure a skill-driven and fresh gaming experience, with up to four updates expected per season.
Weapon Changes and Attachments
As part of the new strategy, Warzone attachments will have clearer tradeoffs, focusing on specific benefits like mobility, accuracy, or recoil, rather than all-purpose utility. Attachments will be capped at five per weapon, and all players will start with the Overkill benefit by default. Low-value or redundant attachments have been reworked to support distinct playstyles, while assault rifle magazines are capped at 60 rounds. Slug ammo for pump-action shotguns will now enable one-shot headshots within maximum range.
Loadout and Ground-Loot Adjustments
Raven Software aims to enhance the uniqueness of each weapon, making loadout choices impactful. Ground-loot rotations will be updated regularly, and pistols will be removed from ground loots, encouraging more satisfying player recoveries. These measures are designed to reward experimentation, precision, and intentionality in gameplay.
