Google has announced changes that will allow competing app stores and alternative payment processes on Android. Additionally, Google Play fees will be reduced for developers who continue to use its billing system. Global Rollout Timeline
The changes will be implemented in phases, starting with the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and the United States by 2026-06-30. Australia will follow by 2026-09-30, with Korea and Japan by 2026-12-31. A global rollout is expected by 2027-09-30. Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, confirmed that Fortnite will return to the Google Play Store worldwide 'soon,' although no specific date has been announced.
