Android users who purchased apps from the Google Play Store between 2016-08-16 and 2023-09-30 may be eligible for refunds due to a settlement in a consumer protection and antitrust lawsuit. The lawsuit, initiated by the attorneys general of all 50 states, claims that Google monopolized app distribution and in-app billing services, leading to overpayments by consumers.
Settlement Details
The proposed settlement includes a $630 million fund to compensate consumers who made qualifying purchases, such as gaming apps, subscriptions, or ad-free versions. The amount each consumer receives will depend on their spending compared to others. Google has denied any wrongdoing in the matter.
Claims Process
To participate in the claims process, consumers must submit their name, email address, and mobile phone number at www.GooglePlayStateAGAntitrustLitigation.com. Notifications will be sent via email when the supplemental claims process begins, allowing eligible users to claim their refunds.
