Google Messages has introduced several new features on Android, enhancing user experience and security. These updates include message scheduling, pinning, and advanced spam protection, making the app a leading choice for Android users.
New Messaging Features
The message scheduling feature allows users to compose messages and schedule them for automatic delivery at a chosen date and time. This can be done by long-pressing the send icon. Users can also pin important conversations to keep them at the top of their message list for quick access.
Advanced search capabilities have been added, enabling users to filter results and quickly find specific messages or attachments. Additionally, the OTP auto-delete function automatically removes one-time passwords and security codes after 24 hours, enhancing privacy.
Enhanced Security and Customization
Google Messages now offers improved spam protection by filtering dangerous links into a designated Spam and Blocked folder, reducing phishing risks. Users can also set custom notification sounds for different contacts, allowing them to recognize important senders immediately.
Device pairing is another feature that mirrors Google Messages to a PC, Mac, or tablet via the user's Google account, with easy options to unpair devices as needed.
RCS and Future Developments
Rich Communication Services (RCS) chats bring modern features such as high-quality images, typing indicators, and read receipts. These require enabling Chat features and RCS on both numbers. While end-to-end encryption between Android and iPhone is still under development, Google Messages continues to receive frequent updates, maintaining its status as the default messaging app on many Android devices.
