Pullup Entertainment Expands Portfolio with Uppercut and Rundisc Stakes

24 Jun 2024

Pullup Entertainment, formerly known as Focus Entertainment, has recently announced its acquisition of minority stakes in two developers, Uppercut and Rundisc. The company’s financial report for the 2023/24 fiscal year revealed these strategic investments, as reported by GamesIndustry.biz.

Strategic Investments in Video Game Studios

Uppercut, the creator of Submerged, and Rundisc, known for Chants of Sennar, are the two studios that Pullup has decided to invest in. While the exact financial details of these deals remain undisclosed, Pullup has not revealed the percentage of ownership it now holds in each company.

Interestingly, Pullup and Rundisc have a history of collaboration, with Rundisc developing Chants of Sennar, a game that was published by Focus Entertainment Publishing, the previous name of Pullup Entertainment. The success of this title led to the renewal of their partnership for a new project.

New Intellectual Property and Future Projects

Moreover, the agreement with Uppercut involves the creation of a new intellectual property that will be co-owned by Focus Entertainment Publishing. This move showcases Pullup Entertainment’s commitment to expanding its portfolio of original brands and investing in talented studios worldwide.

In a statement, the company expressed its confidence in enriching its collection of proprietary brands and supporting studios with proven expertise, both domestically and internationally. Despite the significance of these investments, Pullup emphasized that the financial impact at the Group level is relatively minor.
