Mojang Studios Expands Revenue Streams with Merchandising and Education

05 Jul 2024

The studio behind one of the world’s best-selling videogames, Minecraft maker Mojang Studios, is looking to expand its revenue streams beyond the gaming industry. Chief Åsa Bredin revealed that the company is exploring partnerships in merchandising, education, and content streaming.

Expanding the Minecraft Universe

In addition to a Warner Bros-distributed movie adaptation set to premiere in April and a Netflix series in the works, Mojang Studios is aiming to attract fans who may not necessarily play the game but still want to be involved in the Minecraft universe. Bredin stated that they want to cater to a wide range of people with their portfolio of experiences.

Shift in Gaming Trends

As the gaming sector experiences a slowdown in growth, Mojang Studios’ decision to diversify its revenue streams reflects a strategic move to adapt to changing market dynamics. With gamers spending fewer hours playing, the studio’s expansion into new areas could provide a sustainable source of income and broaden its audience reach.

Where are minecraft files stored?

Minecraft files are generally stored in different locations depending on your operating system. For Windows, they are located in the AppData folder (C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft). On macOS, they are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft. For Linux, look in ~/.minecraft. This directory includes worlds, resource packs, mods, and other game data.

How to get to the backrooms in minecraft?

Getting to the Backrooms in Minecraft typically requires a mod as it is not a standard feature of the game. Popular mods like 'The Backrooms Mod' can be installed to add this feature. To install mods, download and install Minecraft Forge, then add the mod file to the 'mods' folder in your Minecraft directory. Once installed, follow the mod-specific instructions to access the Backrooms.
