Behaviour Interactive, the developer of the popular horror game
A Blend of Beauty and Horror
The Krasue legend is a captivating tale from Thai folklore where a woman's disembodied head, with entrails hanging from her neck, roams the night. This juxtaposition of beauty and horror intrigued the design team. They envisioned a character who could transition from elegance to gore, embodying the terrifying yet mesmerizing nature of the Krasue.
The development team sought to faithfully capture these dual aspects through a character known as Sukapat, an opera singer in her human form. When transformed, she becomes the Krasue, a form designed to showcase unsettling and visceral transformations. The team focused intently on making the entrails move naturally, ensuring that the transformation was both convincing and chilling.
Diverse Vocal Element
Integral to this portrayal is the distinct voice acting used to differentiate Sukapat from her monstrous counterpart. Renowned Thai opera singer Dr. Organ Prawang lends her voice to Sukapat, providing an authentic and melodic dimension to the character’s human form. In stark contrast, Roxana B.L., a death metal singer, voices the Krasue, giving the killer a haunting and otherworldly presence.
A Global Cultural Exploration
Behaviour Interactive's motivation extends beyond catering to a niche audience. As Dave Richard emphasizes, the goal is not merely to tick cultural boxes but to explore and share compelling stories from around the world, stories that are genuinely frightening and resonate on a broad scale. The inclusion of Krasue stands testament to this endeavor, driven in part by enthusiastic interest from the community, particularly from players in Thailand.
Looking to the future, Behaviour Interactive plans to delve further into global horror traditions, aiming to enrich the game's narrative tapestry with diverse myths and legends. The commitment to cultural exploration promises players a thrilling journey through the unknown, one killer at a time.
