Battlefield Studios has announced significant success with its anticheat system, Javelin, for Battlefield 6, reporting over 580,000 cheating attempts thwarted. The system's Match Infection Rate (MIR) increased from 2.28% to 3.09% in January 2023 as it detected more stealth cheats.
Cheating Attempts and MIR
The studio calculates MIR by comparing confirmed and suspected cheater infections against total matches. All confirmed cheaters are banned, and the system uses a growing set of detections and signals to identify suspects. The rise in MIR indicates Javelin's enhanced ability to catch stealth cheats.
New Ban Method and System Impact
A new ban-acceleration method was tested on January 18, 2023, and fully deployed by January 26, 2023, affecting MIR. Additionally, Javelin prevented 384,918 attempts to tamper with the game before they could impact matches.
Tracking and System Conflicts
Javelin is actively tracking 224 cheat-related programs, hardware solutions, vendors, resellers, and communities. Of these, 212 (94.64%) are experiencing feature failures, detection notices, or downtime, with some taking their cheats offline. As a kernel-level anticheat, Javelin has previously clashed with other kernel-level systems.
