Bungie's highly anticipated game, Marathon, is set to launch on 2024-03-05 at 18:00 UTC across multiple platforms including Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. This release marks a significant update following a previous delay and includes new features and mandatory server wipes every three months.
Launch Details and Timing
Marathon will be available for download at 10:00 PST, 13:00 EST, 18:00 GMT, 19:00 CET, 05:00 AEDT (March 6), and 07:00 NZDT (March 6). Players who pre-ordered can preload the game on all platforms. On PC, approximately 50 GB of free space is required to accommodate the preload and decryption process, as the game itself is around 25 GB.
New Maps and Features
The third map, Outpost, will be available on 2024-03-06 and requires players to reach Runner level 12. Later in March, the Cryo Archive map and a ranked mode will be introduced. Access to Cryo Archive will necessitate completing a specific unlock event. These updates are part of Marathon's ongoing roadmap.
System Requirements and Testing
Minimum PC requirements include an Intel Core i5-6600 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 processor, 8 GB RAM, and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or equivalent. Recommended specifications are an Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM, and a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or equivalent. Bungie conducted a Server Slam test prior to launch to ensure smooth gameplay and shared player statistics from the event.
