In the recent phishing test by AV-Comparatives, NordVPN's Threat Protection Pro was evaluated against 250 URLs. It ranked fourth, following Norton Antivirus Plus, Avast Free Antivirus, and Webroot SecureAnywhere. This marks a slight decline from its previous performance in January 2025, where it scored 93% and tied for third place in a July test with a 90% detection rate out of 1,000 URLs.
Product Features and Availability
Launched in June 2024, Threat Protection Pro scans all network traffic on client devices and operates independently of an active VPN connection. It replaced the DNS-based Threat Protection and is available exclusively to NordVPN's higher-tier subscriptions, including Plus, Complete, and Ultra, on Windows and macOS platforms.

Domininkas Virbickas, NordVPN's Product Director, highlighted the increasing sophistication of phishing attacks. He advised users to verify URLs and HTTPS, be cautious of emails with alarming content or errors, and enable two-factor authentication (2FA) to enhance security. NordVPN was the first VPN approved by AV-Comparatives for anti-phishing protection in 2024 and has also received recognition from AV-TEST and West Coast Labs.
