Microsoft has introduced the 'Expanded screen' feature for its Phone Link app on Windows 11, enhancing Android app display capabilities.
Expanded Screen Details
The latest Phone Link update, Microsoft Store version 1.25112.36.0, allows Android apps to be displayed on up to 90 percent of the Windows 11 desktop surface. Previously limited to running within a smaller window, users can now enjoy a nearly full-screen view. This change is designed to enhance usability for Android apps on Windows platforms.
Device Compatibility
To utilize this feature, users need a compatible Android phone, including models like the Samsung S22–S24 series, Honor Magic 4 Pro, OnePlus, Oppo, and certain Xiaomi devices. While most apps will adapt to the larger display, some may require a restart to operate in the expanded mode, and others might show slightly blurry graphics when scaled up.
App Usage and Adjustment
The update signifies a strong push by Microsoft to integrate mobile experiences into the desktop environment. While enhancing usability, this feature may necessitate adjustments for developers to optimize visuals across different screen sizes.
