Microsoft has launched new updates for Notepad and Paint, targeting Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels on Windows 11. The updates bring significant improvements to both applications.
Enhanced Notepad Features
Notepad version 11.2512.10.0 now supports additional Markdown formatting, including strikethrough and nested lists. Users can access these through the formatting toolbar or keyboard shortcuts. Furthermore, the app introduces a "What's New" experience, accessible via a megaphone icon, to help users navigate new functionalities. Improvements to the AI-powered text features ensure that partial results appear more rapidly. These features require a Microsoft account sign-in.
New Tools in Paint
Paint version 11.2512.191.0 introduces a Coloring book and a fill tolerance slider. The AI-powered Coloring book, accessible through the Copilot menu, generates unique coloring pages based on text prompts and is exclusive to Copilot+ PCs. Users can add generated pages to the canvas, copy, or save them. The fill tolerance slider allows users to adjust the precision of the Fill tool for cleaner or more creative applications.
Both updates are designed to enhance user experience and functionality on Windows 11, with Microsoft encouraging feedback via the Feedback Hub.
