Windows 11's Snipping Tool is set to receive a significant update, introducing the ability to insert text when editing screenshots. This enhancement, recently noticed in an Insider build by a popular Windows tipster on X, fulfills a long-standing user request.
New Text Insertion Capability
Previously, the Snipping Tool offered basic markup options, such as pen, highlighter, and shape tools. The new text insertion feature allows users to add text directly onto screenshots. Notable functions include moving, resizing, font changes, and color adjustments, modernizing the tool's functionality for many users who previously relied on third-party applications like ShareX.
Availability and Release
The updated Snipping Tool interface will debut a new "Text" button in its toolbar. While Microsoft has not confirmed a specific rollout date, the update is expected to be available first to Windows Insiders. General users can anticipate the update in a forthcoming release.
