Google has launched version 7.64 of Google Photos for Android, introducing a shortcut to access local folders and a new feature for creating stickers from photos. This update aims to streamline user navigation and enhance creative options.
New Features in Version 7.64
The latest update adds a shortcut to local folders, represented by a folder icon located to the left of the plus and notification bell in the top bar. This shortcut opens the "On this device" page, listing local folders such as Screenshots, Quick Share, and Movies. Previously, users had to access these folders through the Collections tab, making the process less efficient.
Additionally, the update introduces a sticker creation feature. Users can create stickers by selecting a subject in a photo, which is highlighted with a shimmer effect. By pressing and holding the subject, a sticker is generated that can be copied or shared. Google recommends using images with a clearly defined foreground for optimal results.
Compatibility and Rollout
The sticker creation feature is compatible with most Android devices running the latest update and requires at least 4GB of RAM. Both the local folders shortcut and sticker creation features are being rolled out gradually with version 7.64. Notably, the sticker creation feature has been available on the iOS app since August of the previous year.
