CS2 Update Adds Viewmodel Delay in Defuse Scenarios

14 Oct 2025

Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) has introduced a new balance change in its latest beta depot build 1.41.1.3-rc1, impacting how players manage defuse scenarios. The update incorporates a delay of 150 milliseconds on weapon firing after defusing a C4, altering strategic play, especially in 1v1 situations.

Defusing and Gameplay Dynamics

The newly implemented 150 ms delay affects Counter-Terrorist (CT) players during defuse scenarios. It requires CTs to adopt more strategic approaches, as they can no longer hold angles and fire instantly upon completing a defuse. This enhancement means T-side players gain a tactical advantage during such scenarios, necessitating quicker and more thoughtful responses from CT players.

Performance Adjustments

The update brings changes to bullet penetration simulation, aimed at reducing CPU overhead. This adjustment is intended to minimize frame drops during intense gunfights, offering a smoother gameplay experience overall. By refining these technical elements, Valve strives to enhance performance and reliability in demanding gaming situations.

These changes highlight Valve's ongoing efforts to balance CS2, though there is potential for further adjustments before the update's release on live servers. The new mechanics encourage a rethink of existing strategies, especially in high-stakes defuse and combat engagements.
