Google has introduced new features for the Android XR platform, enhancing XR headsets and glasses with PC app streaming and additional functionalities.
PC Connect and Streaming
The Android XR update allows users to connect the Galaxy XR headset to a Windows PC using PC Connect. This innovation enables users to stream a single window or the entire desktop to their headsets. The integration supports Google Play apps, allowing them to be used alongside streamed PC games.
Stability and Realism Features
In addition to streaming, the update includes Travel Mode, designed to provide stability in motion-rich environments like cars or trains, thus reducing nausea. Another feature, Likeness, enhances video calls by creating realistic XR avatars that mirror user expressions and gestures in real time.
These features are currently being released in beta form, with the expectation that they will enhance user experience significantly for Samsung’s Galaxy XR and potentially other headsets in the future.
