The First Descendant by Nexon Tops Steam Charts, Surpasses Elden Ring

10 Jul 2024

Nexon’s latest release, The First Descendant, has quickly climbed to the number one position on Steam. The free-to-play third-person looter shooter made its debut on June 30th and has already captured the attention of gamers, surpassing other popular titles.

Despite its rapid rise to the top, The First Descendant has received mixed reviews on the platform. This new title has dethroned Elden Ring, which had held the number one spot for the past two weeks. Elden Ring’s drop can be attributed to a discount and the launch of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, causing it to slip to seventh place.

Shifts in the Steam Top Ten

Counter-Strike 2 has also experienced a decline, moving from second to third place, while Valve’s Steam Deck hardware dropped to fourth. PUBG: Battlegrounds saw a two-spot increase, claiming the fifth spot, with Baldur’s Gate 3 maintaining its position at sixth.

Surprisingly, Naraka: Bladepoint made a significant jump from 64th place to eighth, thanks to a new map release. Chained Together fell just one spot to ninth place, followed by Cyberpunk 2077 rounding off the top ten on Steam.
