Zyranium gas poses a significant threat on Paradise Island in The Outer Worlds 2. Players can mitigate this by completing the Zyranium Collector side quest to obtain a protective shield.
Zyranium Hazards
Zyranium gas appears as dusty particles or oil-like pools with brassy flames. Exposure to these toxic elements can slowly or rapidly poison players, often resulting in death if not managed appropriately. The gas requires careful navigation, as puddles are lethal on contact.
Unlocking Protection
To protect against the gas, players must unlock the Gas-Energy Deflection Apparatus. This involves completing the Zyranium Collector quest, which provides a temporary shield absorbing zyranium damage. It's crucial to avoid prolonged exposure as the shield depletes faster in concentrated areas.
Zyranium Collector Quest
- Travel to the Euphoria Coast Automech Repair Center, south of Fairfield, guarded by Sub-Mechanists. Access requires a pass from the Ministry of Accuracy.
- Meet Chief Deviser Delphinia Bryant in the smaller garage and agree to collect zyranium samples. Gathering samples involves walking into a gas cloud.
- Deliver samples to Bryant, then visit Chief Mechanist Woodrow Contos to obtain a catalytic amplifier. Dialogue proficiency in Leadership (Level 2) or Speech (Level 3) aids in retrieval.
- Return the amplifier to Bryant to receive and equip the completed Gas-Energy Deflection Apparatus.
This quest is straightforward and vital for navigating zyranium-contaminated areas, especially the central Protectorate bridge.
