Microsoft has introduced Copilot Actions, a new voice-controlled feature for Windows, aiming to improve user experience through voice commands.
Feature Limitations and Criticism
The initial release has exposed some limitations. In a video demonstration, tech creator Judner Aura, known as @UrAvgConsumer, used the command "Hey, Copilot" to attempt increasing text size for his grandmother. Instead of making the change, Copilot provided step-by-step instructions to manually adjust display settings.
This approach drew criticism for its lack of automation, with critics emphasizing that power users expect the assistant to perform the actions directly instead of offering a guided menu tour.
Future Enhancements Proposed
Reviewers suggest a dual approach: allowing users to specifically request a guided tour while defaulting to automation for direct commands. This could address user frustration and enhance the assistant's effectiveness.
Until Microsoft incorporates such abilities, Copilot Actions may remain a work in progress for users seeking seamless voice control.
