By placing a second chest directly adjacent to the first, players can merge them into a single larger chest, effectively doubling the inventory space to 54 items.

While it is certainly possible to construct multiple chests scattered throughout your base, opting for larger combined chests not only streamlines your storage but also contributes to a more organized aesthetic. Additionally, chests play a role in various crafting recipes, such as the Boat with Chest, making it wise to keep a few extra chests at your disposal for future projects.
