Logisim is an educational tool designed to simplify the learning of basic logic circuit concepts. Powered by Java, it aims to bring students closer to the design and simulation of digital logic circuits. Logisim is primarily used for designing and schematically representing CPUs and other central processing units. It offers features like a combinational analysis model for circuit conversions, Boolean expressions, and truth tables. Users can also reuse smaller circuits in larger designs. Circuits can be saved, exported as GIF files, or printed, making Logisim a versatile tool for both learning and practical application in digital logic design.
Logisim is not bad, but it has its flaws. The interface is quite nice and user-friendly, yet I sometimes found it slow. I think it’s a work in progress. I’d recommend it, but with some caution.
