Intravenous 2 Marks Anniversary with Comprehensive Update

22 Aug 2025

Celebrating its first year since launch, Intravenous 2 unveils a comprehensive anniversary update, offering players both new challenges and improved mechanics. Developer Explosive Squat recently released version 1.4, enriching the stealth game with additional content and key refinements.

New Missions and Gameplay Enhancements

Among the standout features of version 1.4 is the addition of one new narrative level in the campaign's opening half, alongside three engaging side missions across four stages. This boosts the storyline and keeps the gameplay fresh, expanding the strategic challenges available to players. Roman Glebenkov from Explosive Squat emphasized that the update aims to enhance previously overlooked areas while layering on fresh content.

The gameplay changes are significant, enhancing the immersive experience of stealth action in Intravenous 2. Among these, the update introduces staged reloads for weapons, allowing players to pause and resume reloads as needed. This adds a layer of tactical decision-making to the already intense encounters. Reloads can now be canceled through object interactions or melee actions, offering flexibility in combat scenarios.

In parallel, sound design upgrades such as muffled indoor audio and clearer alerts for enemy elimination add to the atmospheric depth. Further improvements have been made to enemy AI behavior, making non-playable characters more realistic and reactions more predictable, thus slightly easing the difficulty of neutralizing foes who fall.

Interface enhancements extend to controller camera controls, optimized for more fluid navigation, while the map editor and mod tools have also received attention. Players should see lighting displays improving performance significantly, with reported gains up to 25% depending on individual system setups.

Stealth Gaming Meets Strategic Depth

Intravenous 2 continues to redefine the stealth genre by transforming sneaking from a mere tactic to an essential survival strategy. The intensity of each mission, facilitated by a wide array of customizable weapons and tools, demands a careful approach, making missteps costly. The update underscores this philosophy, reinforcing the feeling of stealth as a necessity.

Coinciding with this update, Intravenous 2 is currently featured in a Steam sale where it is available at a 35% discount, reducing the price to $12.99 / £9.74 until Thursday, August 21. This offers an opportune moment for enthusiasts and newcomers to delve into the enhanced stealth dynamics and experience the enriched gameplay that the anniversary update brings.
