Launches Sailing Skill in Old School RuneScape

19 Nov 2025

Old School RuneScape has launched the Sailing skill, enhancing gameplay across the virtual world of Gielinor. This update lets players explore oceans, train multiple skills, and upgrade their ships.

Game Features and Additions

The new Sailing skill allows players to travel across Gielinor's waters, from Zeah's coastline to Mos Le'Harmless. Players can engage in challenging trials, pursue a skill cape, and train over ten different skills associated with the new feature. Significant updates include a new turtle pet named Soup and the game's rarest drop to date, already acquired by some players.

According to the development team, which includes Mods Kieran, Elena, and Ed, efforts have been made to stay true to the spirit of Old School RuneScape. Electronic Dance Music artist Alan Walker collaborated on the soundtrack, adding an audio layer to the new nautical adventures.

Exploration and Expansion

Sailing transforms previously decorative ocean tiles into new play areas, integrating them with the Varlamore expansion. This offers players expanded areas to explore and new interactive experiences across the game's oceans.

Overall, the introduction of the Sailing skill provides rich new content for players to delve into, seamlessly blending with Old School RuneScape's existing features.
