Game Design and Features
Riftbound retains much of its predecessor's DNA, Lessons from Legends of Runeterra (LoR) influence its design. Jonathan Moormann, design manager, highlights that they emphasize "champion resonance." They aim to capture iconic characters like Jinx and Yasuo through Legend cards bolstered by signature spells and unit cards.
The battlefield system represents the most significant change. Players now capture cards granting unique buffs, creating strategic depth without overwhelming complexity.
Regional Debut and Market Reach
Riftbound launches in English on 2025-10-31. The broad rollout includes North America, Europe, Latin America, and Oceania. Decks will be available through Riot and select local game stores, offering diverse accessibility to players worldwide.
Utilizing broader domains promises fewer balance issues than LoR's strict regional model, streamlining gameplay while maintaining competition.
