Remedy Entertainment reported a challenging Q3 2025, impacted by the underperformance of its game FBC: Firebreak. This cooperative shooter, released in June, struggled due to missing key features like in-game voice chat and tutorials, leading to low player engagement.
Revenue Decline and Leadership Change
The financial results showed a significant 32% year-on-year revenue decline, with an operating loss of €16.4 million. Remedy recognized a non-cash impairment of €14.9 million related to Firebreak. In response to these challenges, CEO Tero Virtala departed the company in October, and Markus Mäki stepped in as interim CEO.
Strategic Adjustments and Future Focus
Despite the setbacks, Markus Mäki expressed confidence in returning to profitability by continuing to leverage self-publishing structures. While some resources will still support Firebreak, the focus will shift towards other promising titles in development, such as Alan Wake 2 and Control. Additional projects include a Max Payne 1 & 2 remake in collaboration with Rockstar Games.
Financial Highlights
Separately, game sales and royalties increased significantly from €0.8 million to €6 million, driven by Alan Wake 2 and Control. Remedy maintained a positive operating cash flow, with an €8.9 million cash increase from the previous quarter, preserving its financial health.
