Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy introduces a new chapter with Sophia, set 15 years before Requiem. The game shifts between a medieval setting and the ancient Minoan era.
Gameplay and Setting
Players will explore a Minotaur's island as the game ventures into new themes and settings. Asobo Studio's CEO, David Dedeine, explains the focus on Sophia's strengths and refined combat mechanics. Emphasizing challenging puzzles, the game employs a Minoan sphere to reveal secrets.
The mysterious Macula, tied to human history and fears, takes the spotlight. Dedeine notes the Macula’s evolution in Resonance, uncoupled from plague-infected rats. Visuals highlight Eastern Mediterranean landscapes, with vibrant palettes and sophisticated motifs.
Character and Story Dynamic
Sophia emerges as the sole protagonist in an upgraded combat role. Known for her resilience, Sophia showcases her physical prowess, distancing from previous protagonists. Raised by brigands, she is more independent and offensive, utilizing her strength and trust in her abilities.
Despite anticipation from Requiem's post-credits tease, a sequel isn't yet in development. The team focuses on reinventing the series with Resonance, aiming to capture audiences with fresh narratives about relationships and authority figures.
Release and Expectations
While a demo is not available, the game is gaining momentum, already nominated for a 'Most Wanted' award. An exact release date remains unannounced, anticipated next year.
