Arc Raiders Set for October 30 Release Without Further Playtests

25 Aug 2025

Embark Studios has announced that Arc Raiders will not undergo any additional public playtests or beta phases prior to its official release. The decision follows the success of a recent invite-only Technical Test 2, which generated substantial enthusiasm for the forthcoming extraction shooter. Despite the interest and feedback from participants, the studio has opted not to conduct further public tests.

In a statement posted on X, the development team from Stockholm shared, "The team here in Stockholm is in full gear, getting ready for release on October 30. Our focus is now on polishing and expanding the experience, and putting all the learnings from TT2 into action ahead of release. Just so you know, we're not planning additional public tests before launch." This decision underscores Embark Studios' commitment to refining the game using insights gained during TT2.

Absence from Gamescom

The studio also confirmed that Arc Raiders would not feature at Gamescom, marking another step in a strategy to manage expectations and maintain focus on the game's final stages of development. "We've learned from our last announcement that it's crucial to keep expectations in check, so we also want to be clear that we won't be at Gamescom," the studio stated.

Arc Raiders' launch campaign is anticipated to begin in earnest shortly before the game's debut, aiming to capitalize on the buzz generated by earlier testing phases. While some players expressed disappointment at the lack of a final chance to experience the game first-hand before October, others appreciate the studio's transparent approach to communication.

Embark Studios’ decision to forgo additional playtests can be interpreted in several ways. On one hand, it reflects a confidence in the game's current state following the successful technical tests. On the other hand, it could be seen as a strategic move to safeguard the game's reputation from any potential negative feedback that might emerge from further testing. The studio appears to be balancing the need for transparency with the imperative of delivering a polished product.

As the October 30 release date approaches, the spotlight remains on Embark Studios to deliver an experience that lives up to the promise shown during the Technical Test 2. Both the gaming community and industry observers are keen to see how Arc Raiders performs in the marketplace post-launch.
