Motion Twin has adjusted the difficulty of its roguelike game, Windblown, following initial player feedback during early access. The game was considered overly punishing when it was first released.
Player Feedback and Changes
Co-creative director and game designer Yannick Berthier acknowledged that the game's revenge system was incredibly harsh. In this system, when a player fell in co-op mode, enemies could easily defeat the remaining player with a single hit. This feedback led Motion Twin to prioritize enhancements and modifications soon after launch.
Artist and level designer Gwen Massé emphasized the importance of finding a balance between developer vision and player input. This approach led to several key changes in the game.
Introduction of Endless Mode
In March 2025, fan feedback resulted in the inclusion of Endless Mode, which helped identify further issues, stabilize the game, and introduce new powers, affixes, and effects. These updates have been essential in enhancing overall gameplay and player satisfaction during the early access period.
Current Status
Windblown remains available in early access, with ongoing adjustments based on community insights, foreseen to improve player engagement and maintain interest.
