Former Gaming Execs Launch First Break Labs to Support Indie Developers

12 Jul 2024

A group of former employees from top gaming companies like Sega, Nintendo, Smilegate, and Atlus have joined forces to establish a new investment and publishing company called First Break Labs. The primary goal of this venture is to assist game studios in achieving greater success in the industry by leveraging their marketing expertise.

Diverse Portfolio of Games

First Break Labs has wasted no time in building up its portfolio, already securing four games: Entropy Survivors, Warside, Baseless, and Particle Hearts. These titles cover a range of genres, from roguelike and tactics to shooter and adventure.

Chief Publishing Officer Alfonso Cubias expressed the company’s mission to support indie developers, stating, “Some of the most groundbreaking ideas in gaming come from independent studios. Our aim is to provide these developers with the necessary resources and backing to realize their creative visions and reach a global audience.”

Commitment to Indie Developers

Head of Marketing Derek Seklecki shared his excitement about the talented developers working with First Break Labs, promising a lineup of future gaming classics. He teased that more exciting titles would be announced in the coming months, urging gamers to stay tuned for updates.

The formation of First Break Labs marks a significant moment in the gaming industry. By bringing together veterans from some of the most influential gaming companies, the new venture aims to bridge the gap between indie creativity and mainstream success. With a strong start and a promising future, First Break Labs is poised to become a key player in the world of game publishing and investment.
