Windows 11 November Update Enhances Start Menu and Taskbar

11 Nov 2025

Microsoft has launched the Windows 11 November Patch Tuesday update (KB5068861) on 2023-11-14, introducing enhanced customization for the Start menu and Taskbar usability improvements.

Start Menu and Taskbar Enhancements

The Windows 11 update brings a more customizable Start menu with new options. Users can now pin more apps, hide the recommended feed, and alter the All apps view. Additionally, the Start menu will scale appropriately with screen size, improving user experience across devices.

The Taskbar's battery icon has also been updated. It now features a larger appearance and color changes depending on the battery or power state. An option to display the battery percentage provides more transparency for battery management.

Notable Fixes and Improvements

  • An issue with Task Manager leaving processes running after closure is resolved.
  • Improvements address gaming handhelds' low-power states and controller response delays.
  • Fixes for Storage Spaces and Storage Spaces Direct address accessibility failures during cluster creation.
  • Voice Access setup issues, particularly without a microphone, have been resolved.
  • A discrepancy in HTTP.sys request parser related to RFC 9112 chunk extensions has been fixed.

Users can install the update via Windows Update or download it directly for manual installation.
