Arrowhead CEO Discusses Future Plans for Helldivers Series

11 Sep 2025

Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani recently provided insights regarding the studio's roadmap for the Helldivers series, confirming that the next significant installment is not around the corner. In a discussion surrounding the potential for integrating a social hub into Helldivers 2, Jorjani addressed fan requests for such a feature.

Future Focus Beyond Helldivers 2

During an interactive session on Discord, a platform where many game enthusiasts gather, Jorjani highlighted that while a social hub is on the company's radar, it is earmarked for 'our next game, not HD3.' His comments indicated that although the idea is appealing, its integration is slated for a future project rather than an immediate update.

The concept of a social hub akin to Destiny 2's Tower has been a popular point of discussion among Helldivers fans, as many players seek a more dynamic area to interact within the game's universe. Currently, Helldivers 2 features a ship acting as a mini-hub, offering a limited scope for player interactions before diving into in-game missions.

Growth Through Updates

Further emphasizing the studio's direction, former CEO and now creative director Johan Pilestedt outlined the team's commitment to evolving Helldivers 2. Since its launch in February 2024, the game has been progressively growing, with incremental updates shaping its trajectory toward what enthusiasts hope might eventually become Helldivers 3.

Despite these updates, Jorjani’s clarification that Helldivers 3 'is hopefully many years away' tempers the anticipation for a formal sequel. This focus allows Arrowhead to concentrate its resources on refining the current game, enhancing player experience through strategic updates and engaging content expansions.

Looking Ahead

As the gaming landscape shifts, Arrowhead appears to be taking calculated steps in expanding its beloved Helldivers universe. The intention to weave more community-oriented features into upcoming projects signifies an exciting pivot for the studio. While fans might have to wait for a comprehensive next-gen Helldivers experience, the promise of future enhancements keeps the community fervently engaged.
