March of Giants Introduces Unique Steampunk MOBA Experience

27 Aug 2025

Amazon Games Montreal is making waves within the gaming industry with its latest venture, March of Giants. Under the creative stewardship of Xavier Marquis, known for his work on Rainbow Six Siege, the studio's new title is poised to redefine elements within the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) genre. March of Giants, which evokes the towering imagery and narrative style of beloved franchises like Attack on Titan, introduces players to a strategically layered, early-20th-century steampunk world.

Epic Scale and Strategy

Built on the foundations of real-time strategy, March of Giants marries tactical battles with MOBA dynamics in a 4v4 team-based game. Players command gigantic beings known as Goliathan giants, each with distinct and powerful abilities. These titans work alongside thousands of normal-sized soldiers, a blend designed to destroy enemy fortifications and turn the tide in epic-scale confrontations.

Xavier Marquis emphasizes that this groundbreaking approach aims to expand the MOBA genre, aspiring to capture the grandeur often associated with legendary battles. "March of Giants represents our vision to bring the epic scale of war to the MOBA genre," Marquis states, highlighting the strategic depth that massive armies and tactically sophisticated structures can contribute to the gaming experience.

Innovative Gameplay Mechanics

The free-to-play title boasts a roster of 15 giants initially, allowing players to unlock five additional characters through progression. Each match promises a unique strategic puzzle, as players must balance the overwhelming power of their Goliathans with the strategic deployment of their smaller units.

A closed alpha is set to take place from Tuesday, September 2, 2025, to Wednesday, September 10, 2025, on Steam. The test will be available for users in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, although plans to expand to more regions in the future continue to unfold.

Anticipation and Future Prospects

Published on August 27, 2025, March of Giants is already generating significant anticipation among gamers. With its innovative approach to game mechanics and narrative depth, the game offers a fresh take on popular themes while positioning itself as a noteworthy contender in the online gaming arena.

The debut of this steampunk-centric MOBA underscores Amazon Games Montreal's commitment to pushing the boundaries of genre creativity. The upcoming alpha will serve as a critical feedback phase, providing developers with crucial insights to polish the game further. As players worldwide prepare to delve into the rich world of March of Giants, anticipation continues to build around its official launch and subsequent market impact.
