Microsoft has updated its Prism emulator, expanding x86 app support on Windows 11 for Arm devices.
Expanded App Support
The latest Prism update adds support for AVX and AVX2 extensions, broadening the range of x86 apps and games that can run on Windows 11 on Arm devices. Applications like Ableton Live 12 are among those benefiting from this enhancement.
- Prism now supports more x86 instruction set architecture, including AVX, AVX2, BMI, FMA, and F16C.
- Improved performance and compatibility with Snapdragon X series processors.
- Update available with Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2 updates.
Enhanced Emulation Performance
This update enables better translation of x86 instructions, making apps run more smoothly on Arm-powered devices. Most x86 apps on Prism now operate with minimal issues, improving the overall user experience compared to older Windows 10 emulation layers.
The update is automatically enabled for 64-bit apps, with manual activation required for 32-bit executables.
