A mod called Bully Online that introduced GTA Online-style multiplayer features to Rockstar's Canis Canem Edit has been withdrawn one month after its release. The mod, created by YouTuber Swegta, included racing minigames and a first-person shooter mode called RatWars, alongside social features. After launching in mid-December, the entire project has now been terminated.
Project Shutdown Details
According to a statement on the project's Discord, Bully Online is shutting down permanently. The process includes the closure of the official server on swegta.com, halting script development, removing the source code, and deleting all webpage references and account data related to the mod. The shutdown will be completed within 24 hours.
The specific reasons for the abrupt termination have not been confirmed. However, the mod required an official copy of Bully and purportedly did not alter Rockstar's other products. Potential issues like legal or monetization concerns might have led to its withdrawal. Swegta is set to address the situation on January 21.
Community Reaction
Despite its short lifespan, the Bully Online mod attracted interest from fans who continue to celebrate Bully, a game nearly two decades old. The integration of online multiplayer features had intrigued many, creating a buzz within the community.
