Microsoft has unveiled Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7653 for the Beta Channel, introducing a mix of new features and essential fixes. This latest release is accessible to Insiders who opt into early updates, with features being gradually deployed to users.
Features and Improvements
Notable updates include refreshed dialog designs using WinUI and dark mode in Accounts > Other Users. Users will find instant Copilot prompt suggestions in the Click to Do feature, though this is not yet available in the EEA or China. Additionally, .webp images can now be set as desktop backgrounds.
Fixes and Resolutions
The update resolves several issues affecting daily use. Improvements include enhanced taskbar and system tray interaction, Start menu memory leak fixes, and reliable touch panning in Start folders. Other fixes address Bluetooth device battery displays, Xbox Full Screen Experience behavior, and .appinstaller installation failures for MSIX packages.
Current Limitations
Known issues persist, such as unexpected app behavior with Xbox Full Screen Experience and some apps not appearing in the system tray. A small number of users may encounter black screens on secondary monitors, and Microsoft 365 Copilot prompt functionality is contingent on the app's running status.
This build serves users operating Windows 11 version 25H2. Microsoft encourages feedback via the Feedback Hub, as localization remains a work in progress during the build's active development phase.
