Microsoft has extended security updates for Windows 10 users through its Extended Security Updates (ESU) program, providing patches until 2026. This initiative aims to maintain security as users transition to newer systems.
Enrollment and Options
Windows 10 users can enroll in the ESU program until 2026. Enrollment requires administrative access and the latest version of Windows 10. Users can access enrollment in Settings under Windows Update. Options for enrollment include paying $30, redeeming 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points, or using OneDrive to backup and sync settings. However, the free OneDrive option is limited by its 5 GB storage capacity.
Offer Limitations and Availability
The ESU program is a temporary solution and does not guarantee immediate availability for all users, as Microsoft is rolling out the enrollment wizard across markets and devices. Businesses have the option to purchase up to three additional years of updates. The program offers a bridge for users migrating to newer platforms, ensuring ongoing security support.
