Tarkov's Steam Launch: Review Bombing Concerns Addressed

09 Nov 2025

Escape From Tarkov will officially launch its 1.0 version on Steam on 2025-11-15, following over nine years in early access. The game, developed by Battlestate Games, aims to reach a wider audience through this release.

Launch Details and Expectations

Nikita Buyanov, COO and game director at Battlestate Games, commented that they are not concerned about the potential of review bombing on Steam. Buyanov noted that detractors are a small fraction of the community and said, "let them bomb us," emphasizing Steam's ability to manage such attacks.

The upcoming release might attract criticism from existing players who are required to repurchase the game on Steam. Buyanov explained this necessity due to the impracticality of distributing millions of free keys and assured players that their libraries would be linked when purchasing editions on Steam.

Game Studio's Perspective

Buyanov stressed that the launch focuses on players rather than striving for high ratings, hinting that player experience is a priority over review scores. The studio anticipates a substantial increase in player numbers both through Steam and their own launcher once the update goes live.
