A Reddit user, known as de_Tylmarande, suggests that performance issues in Monster Hunter Wilds on PC could be linked to the amount of downloadable content (DLC) owned by the account. When tested on a friend's account with all DLC purchased, the game exhibited notably higher frame rates, exceeding 80 FPS, compared to an average of 20-25 FPS on an account with no DLC.
DLC and Frame Rate Correlation
Monster Hunter Wilds, available on Steam, offers approximately 190 DLC items. These include cosmetic upgrades and vouchers. De_Tylmarande discovered that performance deteriorated on accounts with fewer DLC. Using a mod that simulates the presence of all DLC, they observed consistent frame rate improvements across different PCs, while accounts with no DLC experienced severe performance drops.
Capcom's Response Awaited
The findings have been shared with Capcom and Digital Foundry, yet Capcom has not officially acknowledged the issue. De_Tylmarande mentioned the possibility of releasing the mod as open-source if the situation remains unaddressed. The potential issue with "DLC presence checks" could be the key to resolving ongoing frame-rate problems if validated and might be addressed in future updates.
