An update for the space simulation game Ostranauts has addressed a critical temperature bug, preventing corpses from dangerously overheating and threatening ships.
Patching the Temperature Anomaly
Blue Bottle Games, the developer of Ostranauts, released a patch in November 2025 that fixes an unusual issue where corpses could reach extremely high temperatures. The startling bug was highlighted in the game’s patch notes as 'corpses should no longer become hotter than the Sun and explode the ships/stations they are on.'
According to Blue Bottle founder Daniel Fedor, player save data revealed a flaw in the simulation’s body heat code. This flaw allowed temperatures inside EVA suits to rise unchecked, potentially causing explosive decompression upon helmet removal.
Impact on Gameplay Experience
The fix improves gameplay during ship salvage runs, eliminating one of the more bizarre hazards players faced. Known for its complex simulations, Ostranauts' update ensures a more stable and realistic experience, aligning with Kitfox's reputation for detailed and quirky development.
