Google has relaunched Cameyo to enhance Windows app integration on ChromeOS, seeking to bolster enterprise adoption. The revamped service, now called "Cameyo by Google," allows individual Windows apps to run alongside other apps on ChromeOS rather than through a full virtual desktop.
Enhanced App Streaming
Cameyo allows legacy Windows or Linux apps to stream as browser-based or Progressive Web Apps (PWAs), providing a native app experience. This supports specialized ERP clients and Windows-based programs like AutoCAD and Excel, streamlining enterprise workloads. Users benefit from seamless operation without the need for constant context-switching.
Enterprise Adoption Focus
By addressing the long-standing "app gap," Cameyo aims to simplify IT management on ChromeOS, particularly useful when migrating existing PC setups via ChromeOS Flex. The move is a strategic push amid Google's explorations into Android PCs, reinforcing ChromeOS's viability in business environments.
