Phoenix Point's Firebird update, inspired by the popular mod Terror From The Void, introduces significant changes to gameplay dynamics. This update aims to enhance the player's experience by refining campaign pacing and mission structure.
Gameplay Enhancements
The Firebird update offers a substantial improvement in campaign pacing and progression. Research and major construction times are reduced, lowering the early-game resource and ammunition costs. Additionally, Haven Defense missions are now more consistent, boosting their defensibility.
Changes in encounter types add depth; rescue missions retain tension while avoiding random instant deaths, ambushes occur more frequently, and now reward players with loot and skill points. These adjustments aim to keep players engaged and enhance their strategic options.
Strategic Layer Modifications
In the strategic layer, significant upgrades include a redesigned manufacturing screen with clearer storage displays and the removal of hidden late-game enemy scaling, leading to a fairer endgame experience. Players will find partially used magazines shown openly, adding transparency to resource management.
Each of the five downloadable content (DLC) packs has received updates. Notably, the Festering Skies pack now offers more interactions with the Behemoth, while Corrupted Horizons tones down Acheron support units.
Availability and Pricing
The Firebird update is currently available, and Phoenix Point is on sale on Steam with a 60% discount through 2025-12-18, priced at $9.99 or £7.79. This provides an excellent opportunity for both new and returning players to experience the game's refreshed content.
The developers encourage players to explore both the new update and the Terror From The Void mod for a revitalized gameplay experience.
