GOG has expanded its preservation program, increasing the number of certified classic PC games from around 100 to approximately 250. These classic titles are guaranteed to run on modern Windows systems while maintaining their original aesthetics.
New Additions
The latest additions to GOG's program include renowned titles such as Splinter Cell, Resident Evil HD, Spore, and the 2013 reboot of Tomb Raider. Less mainstream titles have also been preserved, offering variety to gamers looking for a mix of popular and niche experiences.
Autumn Sale and Discounts
Coinciding with this expansion, GOG's Autumn Sale is live, providing substantial discounts across the store through 2023-11-05. Notable deals include XCOM 2, available for roughly $3, representing a discount of about 95%, alongside reduced prices on preserved versions of Tomb Raider and Splinter Cell, which are sometimes cheaper than on Steam.
This strategic expansion and sale may boost player interest and accessibility, making classic games more appealing to modern audiences.
